For many reasons I began to run last week. I am overweight, unfit and if there was a Zombie attack I would be lunch, so last Friday my lovely fella took me for a run.
We went to our local park with me in my old track suit bottoms and baggy t shirt looking like I was about to attempt the impossible. I have never ran before, I say never, I did run cross country for the school when I was 10 but these days never, well maybe to the ice cream van.
We started with a lap, I ran for a minute and then had to stop and walk. I was out of breath, my legs were killing me and the total embarrassment of huffing and puffing around the woods in front of dog walkers was excruciating. Never the less I carried on, running and walking. since then I have been running four times, in a week, now I can run for five minutes without stopping and my breathing is a lot better. I cannot believe the difference a week can make!
I have never believed anyone who says they have never ran before and they have worked their way up to miles and miles but I can now believe it, seeing the difference in myself after a week.
So I thought I'd blog for anyone else who is just starting, who has any advice or who like me cannot believe they can run.
I will keep you posted, but for now all I can say is the Zombies will starve before they catch me :)
